All in One or AIO cloth diaper is the final basic cloth diapering category. This is like a fitted diaper, but with a waterproof outer-layer. With the AIO, you DO NOT need a separate cover. The inner layer can range from stay dry materials like microfleece or suedecloth to luxurious fabric like organic cotton and super soft bamboo. These are the most convenient of all cloth diapers as they are just like a disposable diaper, but re-usable. With the AIO cloth diaper, you simply fasten it around your baby with either snaps or aplix (hook and loop). It is that easy. There is no stuffing, like with pocket diapers; no covers like with fitted cloth diapers; and no folding like with prefolds.However, AIO diapers have one disadvantage - the absorbant layer is sewed inside the diaper as it is in the fitted diaper. Depending on what type of materials are used in this internal soaker layer, All in One Diapers can take quite a long time to dry. Because of this, some manufactures have started making what has been coined the AI2 or All in Two. It is just like an AIO but the absorbency layer is folded or snapped into the "shell" or outer waterproof layers of the cloth diaper. This allows for more thorough cleaning of the soaker material and quicker drying time. With the AI2, you get the best of both worlds, ease of use and quick drying times. What more could you ask for?
